    The client was experiencing a unique challenge of static charge of more than 20,000 volts while filling 500 Kg Bags with API powder (Active Pharma ingredient).
    This increased during the dry season - peak summer and peak winter, as the static charge was very high. They also experienced massive shocks while filling the bags.
    In addition, API will not flow into the bags, as the static charge would make the powder stick to the grounded surface.

    Solution :

    iNARTE Certified engineers from Cir-Q-Tech Tako Technologies studied the processes and identified the generation of static charge at each location and thereby clinically installed localised targeted ionizers, which resulted in reduction of static charge from 20,000 volts to less than 2,000 volts

    The client experienced a strange behaviour of the filling machines at the capsule filling unit. During the filling of medical capsules the invisible static charge generated would attract the capsules to each other and make them stick to each other, leading to wrong counting and incorrect filling of capsules into the bottle.
    Cumulative effect was even worse, static charge would lead to jamming of the bottles and stop the functioning of filling machines.

    Large scale manufacturer of plastic film for food packaging was experiencing very challenging times as extreme static charge generated (speed of 1200 metre per min for rolling the film generated huge amounts of static charge, in some instances uptp 40,000 volts of static charge)would not only accumulate huge amount on dust on the plastic films while rolling, but also wrecked havoc on the measuring instruments in the vicinity. While the end-customer unwinds the rolls, the dust accumulated was not acceptable and hence the rejection rate was very high.

    Solution :

    Since the nature of application was very sensitive, it was imperative to thoroughly analyse the extent of static charge generated due the speed of rolling of film and also the impact of the static field, which adversely impact the measuring instruments in the vicinity.
    The solution Engineering team at Cir-Q-Tech resolved the issues by implementing a 360 degree solution, and reduced the static discharge drastically.

What is ESD?

  • Electrostatic discharge is the transfer of electrostatic charges between bodies at different potential caused by direct contact or induced electrostatic field. This definition includes a discharge from the human body into the air and also a discharge to the ground.

How it Impacts your Business?

  • When you feel a static shock, you experience a minimum of 3000 volts of electricity. This shock is known as Electro static discharge. ESD can cause the damage and failure of electronic components. With IC’s of supply voltages of 5V and less are measured in fractions of a micron and when this gets unnoticed can destroy a chip.
    To get rid of sensitivity to static, most semi-conductor devices are treated as static sensitive devices. To prevent these devices should be used in anti static area called as EPA(Electrostatic discharge Protected Area).
