1 On behalf of an ATM Card Reader manufacturer investigation has been carried out as to why the Software in a PC connected to the ATM Card Reader hangs very frequently. On examination it was found that Static level of about 2000V on an ATM Card can make the Software hang when this Static is passed on from the Card to the Reader. The Software becomes operative on rebooting the computer.
2 The Inspection magnifier system frequently used in the assembly areas is Static generating and can be made Static Compatible by a coating of Dissipative paint.
3 Frequent shocks experienced in an automobile industry, was found to be due to high Static accumulation in individuals. This Static was discharged when the person touched the Metallic surfaces. A person senses a Static Discharge as a shock, when the Static level is higher than 3000V.
